The Attraction Team have put together a frequently asked questions section which will provide you with answers to any questions that you may have about speed dating in general or about the Attraction events.

Please select a category below to display a list of questions in relation to your topic of choice.

1. What is Speed dating?

Have you ever been on a date and after a few minutes decided you wanted to leave?. Or tried internet dating and when you both finally met face to face there was no spark!!

You could be like the many people that are very time pressured and would like the opportunity of meeting a large group of single people at one key event.

Speed dating is the way because:-

  • Each event lasts upto 10 minutes giving you enough time to realise if there is “chemistry”.

  • Each of you will be provided with your own scorecard allowing you to note whether you would like to see that person again

  • Attraction will e-mail you the day after with details of any mutual matches. We are unique in that we also e-mail you every time you receive a new match saving you having to keep checking the site to check for new matches.

  • You can book on-line by using our secure on-line payment method through World pay.

  • Attraction only host events in upmarket and centrally located bars. Please see events section for details of your local venue. Part of this venue has been booked exclusively for Attraction clients and you are welcome to socialise with people after the event until late and most people do.

  • Registration starts at 7.15pm where you will be provided with a name badge and your own personal scorecard and a pen enabling you to register who you would like to meet again. After each date you mark the scorecard ticking whether you would like to meet the person again and then register this information onto this site the next day. The back of your scorecard also provides details of exactly what is involved on and after the event.

2. About Attraction Events

How long does an Attraction event last?
The Attraction evening registration starts at 7.15pm and the actual speed dating starts at 7.30pm.

How do I book a ticket to an Attraction Event?
The home page lists details of the forthcoming events in your area. If there is not an event in your preferred location then please complete the section titled book now listing your preferred city. Please click here to book a ticket.

How many dates am I likely to meet at an Attraction evening?
At every event you will normally meet up to 20 dates - sometimes more, sometimes a few less. Attraction prefer to run events with smaller numbers as this ensures our customers are not over tired and that the evening continues to stay enjoyable.

Is up to 3-4 minutes long enough?
Up to ten minutes does not seem like a long time but it can seem like a long time if you are with someone that you do not like. After talking to all the Attraction customers after the events we were assured that up to 3-4 minutes is sufficient time to decide whether or not you would like to meet someone again and agree to a follow up date.

Can I bring a friend?
You are welcome to come along to speed dating with a friend or group of friends and people do. If you are fortunate in being able to bring a friend then that is good however, a lot of new customers of both sexes also come on their own so you will all be in the same boat and will not feel alone.

If you have booked for a friend and not entered their e-mail address as you are using your own e-mail address for the booking then it is VERY important to note that your e-mail will be the only contact that Attraction has and you will therefore receive your friends on-line scorecard via e-mail after the event. It will be your responsibility to either forward this e-mail onto them on their behalf or if they don’t have an e-mail then register their matches on their behalf.

When you have done this you will also be the person that receives their matches via e-mail so it is important you forward this information onto your friends as your e-mail address is our only point of contact if you have booked on their behalf using your personal e-mail.

What happens when I arrive at the event?
When you arrive at the venue you will be greeted by two Attraction hosts wearing Attraction t-shirts.
These friendly and outgoing hosts will sign you in, provide you with a scorecard, name badge and pen.

Once the speed dating night starts one of the Attraction hosts will explain how speed dating works and answer any questions you may have.

The dating then begins and the usual practise is that the women remain seated while the men rotate every 3-4 minutes after the bell rings.

After the time has passed you will have 1 minute to mark your personal scorecard as to whether you would like to see that person again. At the end of the evening everyone takes their scorecards home and then enters their ticks online onto the Attraction website the next day.

What sort of people are interested in speed dating?
The majority of speed daters are professionals who would like to meet new people in their city.

I'm just outside the age range specified. Can I still attend?
Yes, you can as the age ranges specified are guidelines only. However if you are, or appear to be, well outside the age range for your event then you will be unlikely to get matches and this will not be fair on those that have paid to meet people of a similar age group.

Can I go to more that one speed dating event?
Yes – you are able to go to as many as you would like and some of our customers do. Most people at each event find that the more speed dating events they attend then this substantially increases their chances of meeting the man or women of their dreams – after all it is a numbers game and the more you play the more chance you have of winning!!

How should I dress for speed dating?
The Attraction Team recommend that you wear smart casual and what you feel comfortable in. Some of our clients are also coming straight from work so suits are also suitable. Bear in mind that first impressions do count!

Should I prepare a list of questions to ask people?
We recommend that if this makes you feel more at ease then you may want to have a couple of questions you would like ask.

We recommend that you try to avoid frequently asked questions such as "What do you do?". Instead ask more interesting questions such as "What CD's are you listening to?" or "If you were stranded on a desert island what would you take?".

If you ask a different or unusual question this will enable you to find out more about a potential partner.

How many ticks do people normally receive?
The number of ticks varies considerably depending on who was at your event. If you did like someone that was not typically your type then we recommend that you still tick this person. How many times have you heard he wasn’t my type but the more I got to know him it just grew”!

How long do I have to fill out the online Score Card?
After the event you will have 4 weeks to fill out the online Score Card.

If I cannot make an event am I able to send a friend?
Yes this is possible providing that your friend is the same sex as you and this helps other people as Attraction look to register the same amount of males and females for each event.

Please advise your friend to advise the host as the name that made the booking will be the one that appears on the register.

How do I find out about discounted tickets?
As soon as you have registered we will have your e-mail so you will be personally notified via e-mail of any forthcoming Attraction offers.

I have a suggestion/idea on how the Attraction nights can be made different?

I know friends that may be interested in trying speed dating.
For every friend that you recommend and who books onto an Attraction event then you will be entitled to receive 10% commission for every successful recommendation. On the booking form we ask new customers to complete how they heard about Attraction and if this was a recommendation to complete the name of the person that recommended them. Upon receipt of this booking we will personally send you a cheque for recommending Attraction to your friends, colleagues or relatives. Cheques are sent out at the end of every month so the more people you recommend the bigger the cheque as all commissions will add up – so start spreading the word!!.

6. Matches and ticks

How do I check how many ticks I have received from other people?
To do this you need to firstly enter your own ticks onto the site from the link which will be e-mailed to you automatically the day after the event that you attended.

You will then be able to see the ''Click here to check your yes ticks'' link. If you don't want to know how many ticks you received don't click it!

I ticked someone for dating and unfortunately only have a friendship match with them. Why?
The process is that you only receive a 'dating' match if both people tick the yes category when registering their match after the event. If one of you chooses dating and the other chooses friendship this will come up as a 'friendship' match. If both people tick friendship then it will come up as a friendship match.
